My Elusive Reflection

I stand at the unforgiving mirror, day after day
Putting my honey kissed hair
into a relentless binding bun
that is required to be there,
and I analyze every attribute, every imperfection.

My lips are full and pink like slightly ripened raspberries,
nose is normal and plain
except for the bump from a careless child's game;
Teeth are strait
only one remains a skew
ears appear out of no where like dandelions in late summer.
My face is round like a partialy deflated beach ball and my eyes...
my mysterious tormenting eyes
eyes that do not have a color
but that does not matter
for, my malnourished eyebrows and my curly long eyelashes
that's what makes me not the same

Only if I look hard enough into this biased mirror,
then maybe my appearance would change
Like a caterpillar into a butterfly
Poof!
I would be what I have always seen but no one else does;
but because of stereotypes that have been put down before me
and will be here after me
I can't be that butterfly
but I have been put here to ever try
and maybe just maybe
I'll be the one that breaks free
from this ever lasting journey.
Just a poem i wrote.. and like most of my stuff it was written for a class. It is about me and how i look thus the title. Please don't take the words at face value.. to truely understand... you must look beyond.
